Police in Nateete are holding two suspects, identified as Sseguya Mike and Lukyamuzi Godfrey, in connection with a case of house breaking and theft involving a television set, laptop, and cash.
Preliminary investigations indicate that earlier today, the complainant left her residence in the morning for work and returned at about 6:00 p.m. Upon arrival, she discovered that unknown persons had broken into her house by cutting through the bedroom area and stolen her television, laptop, and money.
She immediately reported the matter at Wamala Police Station, where a case was registered. Police then sought support from the K9 unit at Nateete Police Station.
Police responded promptly alongside K9 officers. A police sniffer dog, Bruce, was introduced to the scene and successfully picked up the scent believed to have been left behind by the suspects. The dog tracked the scent to a perimeter wall, where officers observed clear footprints indicating the point of escape.
The dog was then reintroduced on the opposite side of the wall and continued tracking until it led officers to a house occupied by Lukyamuzi Godfrey and Sseguya Mike, where Bruce indicated by sitting at the entrance.
A search was conducted and the stolen television set was recovered. The recovered property was positively identified by the complainant.
The two suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue to establish whether they could be linked to other similar incidents of robbery and house breaking within the area.
