The Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety conducted a road safety awareness and sensitization campaign at Hotel Mamerito, bringing together taxi drivers, truck drivers, boda boda riders, driving school proprietors, and other road safety stakeholders from the divisions of Kiira, Bweyogerere, Namugongo, and Kireka.

The engagement featured interactive question-and-answer sessions between Uganda Police officers and road users, providing a platform to discuss key road safety challenges, address concerns, and share practical measures aimed at promoting safer road use. To reinforce the campaign’s messages, the Directorate also distributed road safety awareness stickers to participants, encouraging continuous adherence to traffic rules and responsible road user behaviour.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Director of Traffic and Road Safety, ACP Norman Musinga, emphasized the importance of complying with traffic regulations and exercising caution on the roads at all times. He urged drivers and riders to avoid reckless behaviour, including speeding, dangerous overtaking, distracted driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

ACP Musinga further encouraged all road users to actively participate in road safety sensitization programmes whenever they are organized, noting that continuous public awareness and responsible road use are critical in preventing road crashes, protecting lives, and fostering a safer road environment for all.
