The 3rd edition of the IGP’s Cup entered its second week with another exciting round of football and netball action across the country, as police teams battled for supremacy while promoting fitness, teamwork and comradeship among officers.
In football, CID Directorate turned on the style to edge Fire Brigade FC 1–0 in a tightly contested encounter. CID displayed determination, discipline and composure to secure victory and claim bragging rights.
CT Directorate produced one of the standout performances of the week, cruising to a commanding 4–0 victory over ICT Directorate, while PTS Kabalye FC registered a convincing 3–0 win over Masindi CPS FC.
Other notable football results included Bududa Police FC’s 6–1 demolition of Mbale Rural Police, Jinja Road Police FC’s 2–1 victory over Nagalama CPS, and Nakaseke Police’s 4–0 win against Nakasongola CPS.
The netball competition was equally competitive, with Iganga Police putting on an impressive attacking display to defeat Namayingo CPS 32–10.
CI Directorate edged L&E Directorate 17–14, while ASTU registered a dominant 17–5 victory over Moroto CPS. Other standout performances included Old Kampala Police FC’s 60–0 victory over Matugga CPS, Nsangi Police FC’s 60–0 win against Kajjansi CPS, and Mukono CPS’s 60–0 triumph over Kira Road CPS.
Week Two has delivered a mix of commanding victories and nail-biting finishes, with officers trading their duty uniforms for jerseys and giving their all on the field in the spirit of competition, fitness and teamwork.
The IGP’s Cup, now in its third edition, continues to bring police teams from across the country together through sport, strengthening bonds among officers while promoting physical wellness, unity and professional excellence.
