The Police Professional Standards Unit (PSU) of the Uganda Police Force has held an engagement with police officers at Nsambya Police Barracks as part of ongoing efforts to promote professional standards, positive discipline and quality service delivery within the Force.
The engagement brought together officers from various units and police commanders and provided a platform for open dialogue on challenges affecting officers’ conduct, the working environment and the delivery of professional policing services.
Discussions focused on strengthening positive discipline and professional conduct, while reinforcing the core values of the Uganda Police Force, including discipline, professionalism, community orientation, nationalism, patriotism and integrity.
Speaking during the engagement, the Commandant of the Police Professional Standards Unit, CP Ameri Irene Kimara, highlighted some of the key vices affecting discipline among police officers and outlined measures aimed at addressing them and promoting a culture of positive discipline across the Force.
The officers, in turn, shared their concerns, challenges and grievances, calling for stronger cooperation, communication and support from commanders to improve the working environment, enhance professional conduct and strengthen public confidence in the Uganda Police Force.
