Earlier this week, during the Monday press briefing, we informed the public that Saturday, 29 August 2026, is National Cleaning Day.
We once again call upon all members of the public to participate in the exercise and to play their part in keeping their neighbourhoods clean, safe and healthy.
We further clarify that, during the restricted period (0700hr to 1000hrs), movement will be permitted only for the following categories of persons and vehicles:
Persons seeking medical services and patients travelling for scheduled medical treatment, who must carry relevant medical documentation.
Emergency-service vehicles.
Medical personnel on duty, who must carry valid identification.
Security personnel
Private security personnel on duty.
Cross-border vehicular traffic using designated major transport corridors.
Persons travelling abroad or returning from airports and other international travel terminals, who should carry valid travel documents or other evidence of travel.
Journalists on duty.
Diplomats, including heads of diplomatic missions and members of diplomatic staff, travelling in officially identified diplomatic vehicles or otherwise able to verify their diplomatic status.
Staff of United Nations agencies and international organisations.
Tourists, with appropriate travel or accommodation documentation where necessary.
Members of the public are strongly advised to cooperate with security personnel deployed to enforce the directive and to avoid confrontations, arguments or any form of altercation.
Any person with a concern or in need of clarification should seek guidance from the nearest police officer or the supervisor on duty.
We urge you to observe National Cleaning Day responsibly. Let us work together to keep our communities clean, orderly, safe and healthy.
