The Territorial Police in the South Kyoga Region, in conjunction with the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), have successfully recovered 105 head of cattle stolen by suspected Karamojong warriors following a swift and coordinated response.
On 13th April 2026 at about 2300 hours, a group of approximately eight armed suspects, reportedly carrying guns, bows, and arrows, raided the kraal of Mwanga Paul, a resident of Kibimba Village, Amujaje Parish, Kamutur Sub-county in Bukedea District. During the attack, the assailants stole 27 head of cattle and assaulted the victim.
The same group proceeded to the kraal of Saale Henry, also in Kibimba Village, where they stole an additional 78 head of cattle, bringing the total number of stolen animals to 105.
Upon receiving the report, the Anti-Stock Theft Unit, supported by UPDF and territorial police personnel from Amujaje, responded promptly and pursued the suspects. Their swift intervention led to a fierce exchange of fire, which forced the raiders to abandon the stolen livestock.
All 105 head of cattle were successfully recovered and have since been handed back to their rightful owners. No fatalities were recorded during the operation.
Security agencies remain vigilant and committed to safeguarding communities and their property against such criminal acts.
