Uganda Police Force has again been crowned champions of the Inter Forces Games 2015, after successfully defending the title they won in the 10th and 11th edition in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
The 12th edition of Inter Forces Games commenced on 8th May 2015 and concluded today on 16th May 2015.
Uganda Peoples’ Defense Forces (UPDF) had dominated these games for over ten (10) years until 2012 when police broke the jinx. This is the third consecutive time for police’s victory.
The competition attracted participants from Uganda Peoples’ Defense Forces (UPDF), Uganda Police Force (UPF), Uganda Prisons Service (UPS) and Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).
They participated in seven disciplines; Shooting/range, Darts, Handball, Netball, Volleyball, Football and athletics both men and women.
The Army chief Political Commissariat Col. Felix Kulayigye said that the games must be a platform for the forces’ cooperation.
“As we all have a common role of providing security we have to cooperate and we are the best as a team” said Col. Felix Kulayigye.
He added that let the forces use sports to spearhead in the fighting of terrorism so that we have a threat free state.
Director Special Duties, AIGP Andrew Sorowen had this to say about the win: “I would like to commend our gallant sportsmen/women who put up a spirited war in ensuring that Police retained the title. Let us remain focused for the 13th edition of 2016 since Police will be the host”.
“Hooray to the Police sportsmen and women, bravo Uganda Police Force.”
