Yesterday, the Territorial Police at Kyotera CPS under Masaka East Region conducted an intelligence-led operation that resulted in the recovery of 40 suspected stolen television sets, six smartphones, and three decoders.

The items were recovered from a room allegedly owned by Khasim Ibrahim, a 26-year-old resident of Kisamula Zone in Kyotera Town.

The operation followed intelligence information that led to the arrest of one Muwonge Joseph, alias “Jose.” During interrogation, Muwonge reportedly revealed that the premises owned by Khasim Ibrahim were being used as a storage point for suspected stolen items before they were sold to various buyers.

According to preliminary investigations, Muwonge confessed that together with other accomplices who are still at large, they would allegedly break into people’s homes and steal various household items.

He further informed investigators that the group mainly targeted television sets, mobile phones, and other electronic appliances. He also stated that the stolen property would later be stored at Khasim Ibrahim’s business premises, where buyers would allegedly be sourced and the items disposed of.

Following this information, police arrested Khasim Ibrahim and conducted a search at his premises, leading to the recovery of the following suspected stolen items:

  1. 40 Television sets
  2. 06 Smartphones
  3. 03 Decoders

The recovered items could not be satisfactorily accounted for by either suspect.

The scene of crime was visited and documented by the SOCO team, and all relevant exhibits were handed over to Kyotera CPS for further management and investigation.

The two suspects are currently detained at Kyotera CPS to assist police with ongoing investigations.
