Kampala Metropolitan Police is holding three cows believed to have been stolen from an area suspected to be in Ssemuto, Nakaseke District, following an intelligence-led operation conducted in Masajja, Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District.
On 17th April 2026, police received intelligence that suspected stolen cattle were being transported in a motor vehicle to Masajja Kibira “A” Cell. A joint police team responded and recovered three cows together with a white Toyota Regius motor vehicle, registration number UAP 155D. The occupants of the vehicle fled the scene, while two suspects were later arrested to assist with investigations.
The recovered cattle are currently in police custody as investigations continue to establish their rightful ownership and trace other suspects connected to the case.
Kampala Metropolitan Police therefore appeals to members of the public, particularly livestock farmers and anyone who recently lost cattle in Ssemuto, Nakaseke District, and the surrounding areas, to visit Katwe Police Station with proof of ownership to verify whether the recovered animals belong to them.
Acceptable proof of ownership may include veterinary records, branding or identification marks, photographs, purchase records, local council verification, or any other credible evidence.
Police also encourage anyone with information that may assist the ongoing investigations to report to the nearest police station or directly to Katwe Police Station.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and additional updates will be provided as they become available.
