The Uganda Police Force has delivered a strong performance at the ongoing 18th Inter-Forces Games 2026, finishing second overall in the track and field events with 21 medals—7 Gold, 7 Silver and 7 Bronze.
The competition is being held at St. Joseph’s College Layibi in Gulu under the theme, “Building Synergy Through Sports.”
PC Abel Chebet led the Cops’ individual performance by winning Gold in the men’s 10,000m in an impressive time of 28:02.2, while fellow Police athlete PC Kiprotich Martin Magengo secured Silver in 28:21.5.
The Cops also excelled in the women’s relay events. The Police women’s 4×100m relay team struck Gold after clocking 46.7 seconds, with PC Nanziri Emily, Akwen Malvine and PC Shida Leni forming part of the winning quartet.
Police also claimed Gold in the women’s 4×400m relay, with PC Draru Rose Abiria, PC Shida Leni, Akwen Malvine and Banura Maureen Akiki part of the victorious team.
Uganda Prisons Service topped the track and field standings with 39 medals—15 Gold, 16 Silver and 8 Bronze. Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) followed with 14 medals, while the UPDF finished fourth with 11 medals.
The Cops’ performance highlighted speed, endurance, teamwork and determination, further demonstrating the role of sports in strengthening cooperation and synergy among the security forces.
