ACP Nabakka Claire, Head of the Formal Education Department in the Uganda Police Force, is leading an assessment tour of five Police Primary Schools in Jinja, Tororo, Mbale, Moroto, and Kaabong districts across the Eastern and Karamoja sub-regions.
The tour aims to assess the schools’ capacity, identify challenges, and explore ways in which the UPF can strengthen them to increase enrolment of officers’ children, particularly those affected by frequent transfers.
During the tour, ACP Nabakka commended Police commanders for supporting the schools’ management committees and urged teachers to champion competence-based learning by embracing practical, hands-on teaching methods that utilise locally available materials.
“Teachers must guide our children to learn by doing so that education becomes practical, relevant, and equips them with skills for everyday life,” she said.
ACP Nabakka further revealed that, as part of the Uganda Police Force’s welfare programme, the Force plans to establish secondary schools in the four major policing zones, Central, Eastern, South Western, and Gulu and to set up Early Childhood Development Centres in all major Police barracks. She said the initiative is intended to ensure continuous access to quality education, promote early childhood development, and guarantee uninterrupted learning for officers’ children regardless of transfers.
