In a concerted effort to curb crime, disrupt criminal activities and dismantle criminal gangs, Police in the Kampala Metropolitan Area conducted a series of intelligence-led and targeted operations on 19 August 2026 between midnyt and 05:00am across several identified crime-prone areas.
In Mukono, Police conducted operations in Kamwanyi, Ham Mukasa, Kasokosi, Lwanda, Namanve and surrounding areas, resulting in the arrest of 22 suspects.
Similarly, Police in Nagalama conducted operations in Kalagi, Katonga Ghetto, Kakoola and neighbouring areas, leading to the arrest of 21 suspects.
In the Kira Road Division, Police carried out operations in Kisaasi, Dungu Zone, Kikulu Zone and other surrounding areas, resulting in the arrest of 13 suspects.
Meanwhile, in Kabalagala, targeted operations led to the arrest of 38 suspects.
During the operations, Police also recovered several exhibits, including suspected narcotic substances and other items believed to be connected to criminal activities.
The operations are part of the Police’s ongoing efforts to prevent and disrupt criminal activities and dismantle gangs involved in waylaying and robbing members of the public, phone snatching and other related offences.
We will continue to sustain intelligence-led, targeted and disruptive operations in identified crime-prone areas across the Kampala Metropolitan Area, with the aim of making communities safer and protecting the public and their property.
Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities and persons to the Police.
