Police, with the assistance of the Canine Unit, have arrested two suspects in connection with a burglary and theft incident at Lusaka-Kirombe Village, Makindye Division, Kampala.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 2:00 a.m., when the complainant was awakened by a group of four masked men, some of whom were armed with stones. The suspects allegedly threatened to kill her if she raised an alarm before entering her house and stealing a television set, a smartphone, a bag containing money and a National Identification Card. The suspects subsequently fled the scene.
The victim later reported the matter at Makindye Police Station, where she was advised to seek the assistance of the Canine Unit to aid investigations.
A sniffer dog named Morgan was deployed at the scene and picked up a human scent. The dog tracked the scent through the neighbourhood, eventually leading officers to a particular house.
Upon reaching the house, officers found a man identified as Dumba Musitafa, a resident of Lusaka-Kirombe, inside. When the door was opened, Morgan entered the house and proceeded directly to the suspect’s bed.
During questioning, Dumba allegedly identified an accomplice, Kamara John, whom he claimed was involved in the theft. A team of officers from Makindye Police Station subsequently proceeded to Kamara’s residence, where he was arrested.
The two suspects, Dumba Musitafa and Kamara John, both residents of Lusaka-Kirombe, Makindye Division, are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
