POLICE INTELLIGENCE-LED OPERATION LEADS TO ARREST OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS THEFT SUSPECTS IN NATEETE

Following public outcry over cases of theft from motor vehicles in the Nateete area of Kampala District, particularly after a video circulated on social media showing a man complaining specifically of vandalism on toyota harrier vehicles , on 15.09.2026 police conducted an intelligence-led operation that led to the arrest of Jjuko Muhammad, a suspect in connection with the theft of motor vehicle parts.

During interrogation, Jjuko Muhammad led police to the arrest of six additional suspects on 17.09.2026 and the recovery of several motor vehicle parts from Kisekka Market.

The suspects have been identified as:

1. Agaba Gabriel
2. Kushemererwa Justine
3. Muwanguzi Daniel
4. Ntege Said
5. Wasswa Frank
6. Lubega Ivan

The shops belonging to the arrested suspects were thoroughly searched, resulting in the recovery of various items suspected to have been stolen. The recovered items have been documented and exhibited as part of the ongoing investigations.

The suspects and exhibits are currently in police custody , as investigations continue.

Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects have allegedly been involved in the buying and dealing in stolen motor vehicle parts over a prolonged period.

It has also been established that some of the recovered motor vehicle side mirrors bear vehicle registration numbers, which may assist investigators in tracing the affected vehicles and establishing their rightful owners.

The registration numbers engraved on some of the recovered side mirrors include:

– UAS 480J
– UBK 447G
– UA 086DB
– UBM 991L
– UAR 213K
– UBG 969D

Members of the public who may have information relating to the recovered items or who may identify their vehicle registration numbers are encouraged to provide the information to the police to assist with the ongoing investigations.
