UPL : Police 0-0 Lugazi

Police Football Club was on Wednesday held to a sixth draw in the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season after firing blanks with Lugazi upon league return from an international break.

In a game of two halves played at Kavumba Recreation Center, the Cops wasted opportunities created in the second half, missing a chance to go within clear sight of the top three positions.

Despite a low start to the game, Lugazi was the dominant side in the opening exchanges and Derrick Mwanje had a chance to gift the visitors an early lead, only for his 15th minute shot to go inches wide.

At 35 minutes, Sharif Ssaka was denied by the top right corner of the woodwork after shooting beyond the stretch of Police goalkeeper Edward Kasibante.

The best moment for the hosts surfaced after 37 minutes through Gerald Ogweti who failed to punish the sluggish defending of Lugazi, with his chip from a tight angle hitting the side net.

In the second half, substitute Emmanuel Mugume played a give and go with Isaac Ogwang but the former’s shot inside the box hit the base of the goal post and went out.

Lugazi’s survival series continued when another substitute Ben Ocen shot wide with the goal at his mercy while Steven Kabuye was let down by the slippery ground that was tampered with by a heavy downpour before kickoff.

The draw at home took Police to the fourth position on 12 points, sharing the tally with BUL FC, Express and their matchday ten opponents UPDF FC.

The Cops will visit Bombo military barracks for match day 10 action against UPDF FC next week on Wednesday.
