UGANDA POLICE FORCE PRESS RELEASE 25th January 2018
Yesterday January24th 2018 at 3:30PM, at Bibia check point, our officers intercepted a lady by the name of Akech Flavia f/a 42, years old, a resident of Kampala around Makerere university carrying bags with an assortment of explosives, 13 SMG magazines, amounting to 390 rounds of ammunition, 17 grenades, 16 fuses of grenades, 596 loose ammunitions, 145 PK ammunition in chain, 348 PK loose ammunition, 2 pistols with 3 rounds of ammunition and 2hand made pouches. The suspect, Flavia Akech has been working in Juba, south Sudan for sometime as a causal worker according to preliminary information at hand.
The items were found in the vehicle Reg. Number UAP 771K, driven by one Otema Vicent. The owner and prime suspect had cleverly evaded the check point by hiring a boda boda reg. number UDK 242A and the rider of the boda boda, one Kasire Richard was also apprehended.
There are other two suspects that were aiding these three who were also apprehended and there are: Nadome Ronald 32 years and Muzamiru Fiza 18 years.
All the five suspects have since been brought to Kampala for interrogation. All the exhibits have also been brought for better management of this investigation.
The police shall continue to strengthen our border security in the fight against these crimes, which include among others proliferation of small arms and light weapons in the country. We call upon all people to be vigilant and report suspious characters of items around them to the nearest police for quick and precise intervention.
The Uganda police force would like to congratulate the team of officers that accomplished this task. We pledge to vigorously continue to fight all crime that would destabilize and compromise our cherished peace, security and stability.
