Today, ACP Byabagye Moses, Head of Training under the Human Resource Development Directorate, officially opened a three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) course on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Case Management at the Police Senior Command and Staff College, Bwebajja.
The training brings together Regional Training Officers from across the country and is aimed at equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to strengthen the capacity of police officers in their respective regions to effectively handle GBV cases.
Addressing the participants, ACP Byabagye emphasised the importance of having a well-trained and committed workforce in responding to GBV.
“Our response therefore requires not only committed professionals, but also a well-trained workforce that understands the principles and practices of quality, survivor-centred GBV case management,” he said.
He urged the officers to utilise the knowledge and skills gained to conduct quality trainings, mentor colleagues, identify capacity gaps, and strengthen coordination and referral mechanisms within their respective areas of responsibility.
The three-day course is supported by UN Women, the European Union (EU), and the Justice, Law and Order Sector (JLOS).
