POLICE CONDUCT OPERATION TO CURB THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS ALONG WAMPEWO, PUNJAN AND FORMER ELECTORAL COMMISSION STRETCH

Following several complaints from motorists about the increasing incidents of theft of motor vehicle parts, including side mirrors, baby mirrors, grills, lamps and other accessories, the Police at Jinja Road Division carried out an intelligence led operation aimed at curbing the vice.

The operation was conducted on the 23rd and 24th of October 2025, targeting areas of Wampewo, Punjan and the former Electoral Commission stretch, which had become hotspots for phone snatching, bag snatching and thefts from motor vehicles.
As a result, a total of two suspects were arrested and charged with stealing from a motor vehicle. Among those arrested is one suspected to be a key promoter of the criminal network behind these thefts.

Several stolen motor vehicle parts were recovered during the operation, including baby mirrors, side mirrors, grills for Toyota Harriers, lamps and other accessories. The recoveries were made in the kiseka area .

The operation is still ongoing and more details will be provided in due course.
