Police 2–1 URA
Police FC showed resilience and composure to secure a thrilling comeback victory over URA FC as Matchday 24 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League took center stage at the Kira Road Police Arena on Tuesday.
The Tax Collectors made a dream start, taking the lead as early as the second minute. Towering midfielder Joshua Lubwama Letti rose highest to head home from a Disan Galiwango corner, handing URA an early advantage.
However, the Cops remained composed and stuck to their game plan. Their persistence paid off in the 15th minute when a long ball took a deflection off URA’s Joseph Bright Vuni and kindly fell to Lawrence Tezikya, who calmly slotted past Derrick Ochan to level matters.
Police continued to press for a second goal, with Obedi Brian James forcing a fine diving save from Ochan, while Charles Bbaale saw his goal-bound effort cleared off the line by James Begisa.
The sustained pressure eventually told in the 70th minute. Saidi Kyeyune delivered a teasing inswinging corner that was met by Bedia Djuma Ikamba, who powered in a near-post header to complete the turnaround and put Police in control.
Ikamba, who now has eight league goals this season, was deservedly named Man of the Match. The reverse fixture at Hamz Stadium had ended in a goalless draw between the two institutional sides.
The victory—Police’s second in succession—takes their tally to 41 points, moving them into sixth place, level on points with fifth-placed NEC FC. The Cops will next face Maroons FC at Luzira Prison Grounds on Saturday in Matchday 25.
