Following numerous public complaints about phone snatching and theft, the Uganda Police Force, through officers from Kampala Central Police Station (CPS), recovered more than 700 suspected stolen electronic devices during an intelligence-led operation conducted last month at Cooper Complex Building in Kampala.
The recovered items include over 700 mobile phones, ranging from iPhones and various Android brands to button phones. Officers also recovered tablets, laptops, and other electronic devices believed to have been stolen.
The operation was launched following intelligence indicating that some dealers were trafficking suspected stolen phones, altering their serial numbers, and selling them outside Uganda.
The Uganda Police Force calls upon anyone who has lost a mobile phone or any other electronic device to visit Kampala Central Police Station (CPS) with valid proof of ownership to verify whether their property has been recovered.
Additionally, Katwe Police Station has several recovered iPhones awaiting identification and collection by their rightful owners. Members of the public who have lost iPhones are encouraged to visit the station with proof of ownership to facilitate verification and retrieval.
The Uganda Police Force remains committed to combating phone theft, dismantling criminal networks involved in the trafficking of stolen property, and ensuring that recovered items are returned to their rightful owners.
