The Uganda Police Force in the Aswa West Region, through Gulu West Division, on 30th May 2026 conducted a successful operation that led to the arrest of two suspects in connection with the manufacture and distribution of counterfeit motor vehicle and motorcycle lubricants.

The operation was launched following intelligence reports received from Bardege-Layibi Division regarding suspected illegal activities being conducted at a residence located in Wii-Layibi Cell, Techo Ward, Gulu City.

A joint team comprising security and investigative officers raided the premises and recovered several boxes of suspected counterfeit engine oil, empty branded lubricant containers, and equipment believed to have been used in the sealing, packaging, and distribution of the counterfeit products.

The two suspects were arrested and are currently in police custody at Gulu West Police Station. They have been charged with offences related to the manufacture and distribution of counterfeit goods.

Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals connected to the operation, establish the source and distribution network of the counterfeit products, and recover additional exhibits.

The Uganda Police Force cautions members of the public against purchasing lubricants from unauthorized dealers and encourages consumers to verify the authenticity of products before purchase. Anyone with information regarding the manufacture, distribution, or sale of counterfeit goods is urged to report it to the nearest police station.
