Following a case of murder, attempted murder and arson registered at Kalungu Bunga, Ggaba Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala District, police are continuing investigations into an incident in which a biological mother allegedly stabbed her five biological children, killing two and injuring three, before attempting to take her own life by stabbing herself.
On 21/08/2026, the investigation team revisited the scene of crime as part of the ongoing investigations. The team also obtained CCTV footage from cameras within the surrounding area, which is expected to provide valuable leads to the investigation.
Statements have been recorded from neighbours and first responders who were at the scene following the incident.
The bodies of the two deceased children, Khadija Daisy Traore, female, aged 14 years, and Danita Mariam Traore, were handed over to their father following postmortem examinations. The deceased were subsequently laid to rest at Kololo Muslim Cemetery on 21/08/2026.
On 22/08/2026, two of the victims, aged 13 and 10 years respectively, were discharged from Mulago Hospital. Another victim remains admitted at Mulago Hospital and is receiving treatment. The victim is reported to be in a stable condition.
The suspect also remains admitted at hospital and is reported to be in a stable and improving condition.
On 22/08/2026, the suspect was interviewed and a detailed statement was obtained from her. In her statement, she alleged that the incident arose from ongoing domestic violence between herself and her husband.
The husband, was also interviewed and his statement recorded. He confirmed that there had been ongoing domestic violence between him and his wife.
Investigations are still ongoing.
Upon completion of investigations, the suspect will be produced before the courts of law for appropriate legal proceedings.
