Crime & Operations

In a continued effort to combat the theft of agricultural produce, the Police in Namutumba District are actively hunting for Karim Kazimbe, a resident of Mazuba Central, Mazuba Parish, Namutumba District, and a businessman dealing in the buying and selling of coffee.

On the night of September 2, 2026, unknown thieves reportedly entered a complainant’s coffee garden and stole quantities of freshly harvested coffee. The matter was promptly reported to Police, prompting a swift response by a team of canine handlers from Kibuku and detectives.

A Police sniffer Honey dog was introduced to the scene that picked up the scent of the suspect. The dog tracked the scent for approximately half a kilometre, eventually leading investigators to a house and store allegedly belonging to Karim Kazimbe, a coffee dealer.

The store was found open, and upon entering, the canine team discovered substantial quantities of fresh coffee.

However, upon seeing the Police team and the sniffer dog approaching his store, the suspect reportedly fled the scene.

Police recovered the coffee, which is being treated as an exhibit to aid investigations.

Efforts to apprehend the suspect are ongoing, as Police continue to pursue leads to bring him to justice.
