Obongi and Moyo police are jointly investigating a case of attempted murder of ASP Natukunda Ian, the OC Palorinya Base Camp Police Post in Obongi district.
The incident happened on the 12th.Oct.2019 at around 7:30am where the suspect only identified as Abubakari a refugee from South Sudan allegedly grabbed a gun from a female Police officer who was guarding at the camp.
He started conducting himself in a violent manner and it’s during that process that he aimed and shot at ASP Natukunda Ian to the chest critically injuring him. The OC post had responded to the incident with a view of disarming the suspect.
The suspect was also injured in the process of disarming him. Both victims were rushed to Moyo Hospital for treatment. ASP Natukunda was there after airlifted to Kampala for further treatment.
The motive of grabbing the gun from the female officer is not yet clear but investigations continue.
The Inspector General of Police and the entire Police fraternity have their prayers and thoughts with ASP Natukunda and do wish him a quick recovery.
